A number of newly built sustainable homes across world has increased dramatically over the last couple of years. The advantages of developing green home projects foster real estate investors opt for sustainable buildings. A lot of countries, including Saudi Arabia, encourage citizens to turn their homes into green.
After a decree has been announced recently by the Presidency of Meteorology and Environment (PME) that gives all companies five years to meet new air, noise and water pollution standards, all projects from now on must fit to Saudi Arabia’s sustainable development plan. The new regulations aim to protect country’s health and natural resources and foster sustainable thinking.
The King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC) which attracts international research talents and staff members, has achieved the first Gold LEED for Homes Certification in the Middle East. This brings Saudi Arabia to the top of sustainable residential houses developers list in the Middle East.
This project includes 10 community buildings, a residential community that consist of 200 houses and four main utility buildings. KAPSARC campus promotes sustainability and raise environmental consciousness. The residential campus was designed to optimize energy consumption and improve indoor air quality. Recycled materials have been used while building the campus.
KAPSARC is also famous for its solar energy field which is the largest in Saudi Arabia. The field is projected to offset carbon emissions by a bit less than 5, 000 tons every year.
